Freelance UX/UI & Product Designer in Switzerland.
I'm Lucas Rappart, a senior freelance UX/UI and product designer based in Switzerland. I work with founders, design leads, and product teams across Europe and the US, covering the full span from product strategy and research to hi-fi design, design systems, and working interactive prototypes. Clients range from Series A startups to Nestlé.

Four ways I partner with teams.
Embed with your product team
Join an in-house team to lead market and competitor research, set product strategy, and prototype the next state in Figma and as a working interactive build.
Ship the first version with founders
Work with early-stage founders to pin down the real need, prototype the core flows, and ship a v1 that holds up in front of real users.
Map what comes next
Run strategic user research with stakeholders, set a 5 to 10 year vision, and prototype how AI could reshape the product before you commit.
Upskill your team on AI
Partner with executives and product teams on a clear AI playbook: where designers should lean on it, where to hold back, and how PMs ship their own prototypes.
Is a freelance senior designer the right call?
It's a fit if
You need senior product design without a full-time hire
You have a v1 to ship and no in-house design lead yet
You want strategy and hi-fi from one accountable partner
It's not a fit if
You need ongoing visual production at agency volume
You want the cheapest hourly rate on a marketplace
You are looking for fundamentals or portfolio coaching (that is the coaching offer)
Recent work
Foodhack
Foodhack ran a FoodTech media brand and an engaged investor community. I designed the investment platform that turned their manual, intro-by-intro dealmaking into a product that scaled, shipped fast, and closed real deals.
Dentsply Sirona
The ordering portal and onboarding for Dentsply Sirona’s DS Core platform, moving dental labs and clinics off paper and onto one connected system.
Hafnova
A two-week sprint redesigning Hafnova’s DoHzel mobile app: turning a fragile manual DNS activation into a guided journey and making a technical security product simple for a non-technical Swiss audience.
Digital Key
A two-week design sprint reframing car ownership around shared mobility — a mobile prototype letting an owner issue a secure, time-bound digital key to share their vehicle on demand.
What does it cost?
Senior freelance product design runs on a day rate or a scoped project fee, not a marketplace hourly bid. Rather than guess, you can land on a real budget range for your specific project in two minutes.
Estimate your projectFreelance design, answered.
How much does a freelance UX/UI designer cost?
Day rates in Europe vary widely with seniority: roughly €350 to €600 for mid-level designers, and €600 to €1,000+ for senior and specialist ones. At the senior level most work is scoped by project rather than by the day, with project fees commonly starting around €8,000 for a focused v1 and rising for multi-month embedded engagements. It depends on scope, timeline, and how much strategy and research is involved, which is why there is a two-minute estimate tool to land on a range for your specific project.
Freelance designer or agency: which should I hire?
A freelance senior partner gives you one accountable person from research through handoff, faster decisions, and no agency overhead. An agency makes sense when you need sustained production volume across many parallel workstreams. For strategy, a v1, or a design system foundation, a senior freelancer is usually the sharper, leaner choice.
How do I choose a freelance product designer?
Look for demonstrated outcomes, not just visuals: case studies that explain the problem and the decisions, range across company stages, and a clear point of view. Check that they can cover strategy and execution rather than only producing screens. A short discovery call tells you quickly whether they think in business terms or only in design terms.
What is the difference between UX/UI design and product design?
UX/UI design focuses on the interface and the flows a user moves through. Product design adds the layer above it: the strategy, the information architecture, and the decisions about what to build and why. The work here covers the full span, from the strategic question down to the hi-fi screens and the interactive build.
Where are you based and which time zones do you work in?
Based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Working remotely with founders, design leads, and executive teams across Switzerland, Europe, and the US. Comfortable overlapping with US East and West Coast hours when an engagement needs it.
